Functions and Benefits:

The most significant performance improvements achieved by using EB1189 include:

● Enhanced flexural strength, tensile strength, impact resistance, and elastic modulus

● Improved water resistance and corrosion resistance

EB1189 N-(n-Butyl)-3-aminopropyltrimethoxysilane is a bifunctional silane containing both a reactive secondary amino group and hydrolyzable methoxy groups. Its dual reactivity enables EB1189 to chemically bond inorganic materials (e.g., glass, metals, fillers) with organic polymers (e.g., thermosets, thermoplastics, and elastomers), making it ideal as an adhesion promoter or surface modifier.

EB1189 appears as a colorless or slightly yellowish liquid with a slight ammonia-like odor, and is soluble in alcohols, aliphatic, and aromatic hydrocarbon solvents.

Functional Characteristics of EB1189 N-(n-Butyl)-3-aminopropyltrimethoxysilane:

1. In the presence of water, the methoxy groups of EB1189 hydrolyze to form reactive silanol groups that can bond with various inorganic materials. Meanwhile, the lipophilic n-butylamino functional group at the other end can react with suitable polymers. EB1189 hydrolyzes under acid-catalyzed conditions (e.g., acetic acid, pH 3). To dissolve EB1189 in organic solvents, add 2–4% water based on the amount of EB1189, and stir for 5 hours before use.

2. Suitable inorganic substrates include glass, glass fibers, glass mats, wollastonite, and kaolin. Resins compatible with EB1189 include epoxies, polyurethanes, PA, PBT, EVA, modified PP, silicones, and other organic systems.

3. Especially in thermoplastic applications, EB1189 is a highly effective coupling agent. When used to reinforce MAA-modified polyethylene, polypropylene, and polyamides, it delivers outstanding mechanical performance. EB1189 is particularly effective in improving the impact resistance of polyamides. Under demanding application conditions, glass fibers and fillers treated with EB1189 outperform those treated with conventional amino silanes. EB1189 can also be used as a chain terminator or end-capper for polyurethanes.
