TTrimethylmethoxysilane is an organosilicon compound with the chemical formula C₄H₁₂OSi and CAS No. 1825-61-2. It appears as a colorless, transparent liquid, flammable, soluble in organic solvents but poorly soluble in water. Trimethylmethoxysilane is primarily used as a silane coupling agent, water repellent, and capping agent for silicone oils. It is also applied in the preparation of hydrophobic coatings, modification of UV aging resistance of epoxy resins, and coating super-hydrophobic recycled polyester aerogels.

Applications:

Trimethylmethoxysilane is used as a capping agent for polysiloxanes.

● Its hydrophobicity enhances the crack resistance of composite materials.

● It can serve as a precursor to modify the cross-linking degree within aerogels, thereby imparting flexibility to the resulting aerogel.

● Flexible SiO₂ aerogels can be prepared by adjusting the ratio of trimethylmethoxysilane to solvent. By selecting suitable phase-change core materials and employing a vacuum impregnation method, SiO₂ aerogel phase-change composite materials can be obtained. These composites exhibit excellent mechanical properties, tunable structure, and high loading capacity.

● This product can also be used as a silylating reagent for protecting functional groups such as hydroxyl, amino, and carboxyl groups. It does not release ammonia or hydrogen chloride during reactions, making it highly valuable in the synthesis of pharmaceutical intermediates.
