Products Description

Trimethoxypropylsilane is an organosilicon compound with the chemical formula C₆H₁₆O₃Si and CAS No. 1067-25-0. It appears as a colorless, transparent liquid at room temperature and atmospheric pressure. It is soluble in various organic solvents and undergoes slow hydrolysis upon contact with water. This compound is primarily used as a fundamental raw material in sol-gel processes, capable of enhancing the hydrophobicity of inorganic filler surfaces. It also serves as a silane coupling agent in material synthesis. The three methoxy groups in its molecular structure are hydrolyzable and can undergo condensation reactions to form stable siloxane (Si-O-Si) bonds, reacting with hydroxyl groups on inorganic material surfaces to create a hydrophobic layer.
