Products Description
Hexadecyltrimethoxysilane is an organosilicon compound with the chemical formula CH₃(CH₂)₁₅Si(OCH₃)₃. It appears as a colorless to pale yellow transparent liquid at room temperature (solid at low temperatures), and belongs to the class of long-chain alkyl silane coupling agents. Its molecular structure contains both a long-chain alkyl group and a trimethoxysilyl group, endowing it with hydrophobic properties and the ability to undergo hydrolysis and condensation reactions to form polysiloxane networks. This compound is readily soluble in organic solvents such as hydrocarbons, ethers, and ketones, but is insoluble in water and highly susceptible to hydrolysis upon contact with water.

Applications:
Introducing long-chain alkyl groups into organosilicon molecules can impart new properties to silicone-based products.
As a novel type of organosilane coupling agent, long-chain alkyltrimethoxysilane can be used to treat inorganic materials (such as glass, SiO₂, Al₂O₃, kaolin, mica, SiC, talc, etc.), improving the compatibility between inorganic materials and organic substances (e.g., plastics, rubber, lubricants, adhesives), thereby enhancing the mechanical performance of the final products.
It can be applied as an anti-fogging agent for glass, protecting both plain glass and coated glass (including optical anti-reflective films, vacuum-deposited anti-reflective coatings, and reflective layers), as well as optical components with scales or metal frames and precision instruments.
It serves as a protective agent for cultural relics, preventing damage caused by acid corrosion, freeze-thaw weathering, and other environmental factors.
As a textile finishing agent, it imparts a full-bodied (bulking effect), smooth hand feel, and strong wool-like texture to cotton, linen, wool, and blended fabrics, while significantly enhancing the fabric's hydrophobicity.
It is also used in the modification of engineering plastics, waterproofing and corrosion protection of buildings, release agents for rubber and plastics, and other applications.
Additionally, it can be employed for surface modification of ultrafine powders, such as stationary phase surface treatment in chromatographic columns or separation materials.
Packaging and Storage:
Available in 20 kg cartons containing four 5 kg plastic pails; or 200 kg PVF steel drums or plastic drums; or 1,000 kg IBC totes.
